Dermal Fillers vs. Botox: Which Is Right for You?
They're often mentioned in the same breath, but they do very different things. Here's how to think about which one (or both) actually fits the result you want.

The shortest version: Botox softens lines made by movement. Dermal fillers restore volume that has been lost. They're complementary, not competing.
When Botox is the right answer
Crow's feet that show up only when you smile. The "11s" between your brows that appear when you concentrate. A forehead that creases when you raise your brows. These are dynamic lines — caused by repeated muscle contraction — and they respond beautifully to Botox.
When fillers are the right answer
Hollows under the eyes. Cheeks that have lost their lift. Lines that linger even when your face is at rest. Lips that feel thinner than they used to. These are volume-loss issues, and the right hyaluronic acid filler placed in the right plane is what brings them back.
When the answer is both
Most patients in their late thirties and beyond benefit from a combination. Botox in the upper face keeps the dynamic lines from etching deeper, while filler in the midface restores the structural support that softens nasolabial folds and marionette lines without ever touching them directly.
How we plan a combined treatment
We sequence carefully. Filler is usually placed first, often during the same visit, with Botox to follow either that day or two weeks later depending on the areas treated. We almost never recommend "doing everything at once" — natural results come from layering thoughtfully over time.
